Dear Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Community,

We wanted to make you aware that the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police Department (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPD) has been notified by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) that they are currently investigating an armed robbery and assault of an Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ student that occurred this evening, November 28 at approximately 9 p.m. on the 3700 block of Nebraska Ave. NW at the WMATA bus stop directly in front of the Department of Homeland Security. The subjects appeared to be three males in grey hooded sweatshirts, one was armed with a firearm, and then all of whom fled the scene in a gray sedan.  

If you have any information or witnessed suspicious activity, please call the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Police Department at (202) 885-3636 or 911 for the Metropolitan Police Department if you are off campus. 

General Safety Tips

  • Program the University Police Department number into your cell phone for emergencies: (202) 885-3636. Call 911 if you are off campus.
  • Download the RAVE Guardian Safety App using your Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ username and password.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Use lighted walkways and thoroughfares.
  • Travel in groups at night whenever possible, especially when walking.
  • Identify safe havens along your paths of travel where you can seek shelter, if needed.
  • Use the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ shuttle service whenever possible.

Additionally, the University Police provides escorts, twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week, for community members to and from university-owned property. To arrange an escort, call (202)885-2527 or use a blue light or red emergency phone.
