Communication May 15, 2024

Dear Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Community,

During this year’s summer break, progress will continue to be made on numerous capital projects throughout the campus.  Some of the projects were scheduled specifically during the break to minimize disruption to the community, as they will take place in high pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas. Those who remain on campus during the summer months may experience localized pedestrian and vehicular traffic redirection, possible construction noise disruption, and occasional service interruptions. Workers will make their best efforts to minimize any inconveniences.  Work will include:

Construction Projects

  • Meltzer Center/SCAN – Construction work at the site will continue throughout the summer. The roadway adjacent to the site will remain closed throughout the summer.

Repairs/Renovations

  • MGC Stair Tower Repairs – Repairs to the tower’s façade are expected to continue until June 28.
  • Mary Graydon Center – Renovation work on the third floor will continue until July 31. Renovation work on the second floor is expected to begin in August. Each floor will be closed to access while work takes place.
  • Terrace Dining Room – Renovation work will continue until early August. The facility will be closed to access while work takes place. Summer conference and guest services will be provided on the first floor of MGC. Please visit for other dining venue hours during the summer.

  • McDowell Hall - Renovation of the residence hall and hardscape immediately surrounding the building will take place. The roadways adjacent to the building will be impacted by the presence of transport vehicles for material removal and delivery. (May 13 – August 10)
  • Sports Center Garage Repairs – Structural, spalling, and delamination repairs will take place. Repair work will require closure of the garage for nine days. (May 24 – June 2)
  • Summer Painting – Repainting of roughly one quarter of the residence hall rooms and common areas throughout campus. This effort will be run in coordination with Housing and UCGS. (May – August)
  • Kerwin Hall and Sports Center Fitness Center – As roof replacement work takes place, some areas directly adjacent to each building may be impacted partially. (June 3 – August 10)
