Office of Graduate & Professional Studies Funding Opportunities

The following funding opportunities are available from the Office of Graduate & ProfessionalÌýStudies to students seeking a master's or doctorate degree. Please exploreÌýeach drop-down for detailed instructions on eligibility and applications.

Note that awarded funds are applied to the next academic year's tuition charges, split evenly between fall and spring. Funds can only be applied to tuition and cannot be used towards fees or other billed expenses.

The Adel Ait-Ghezala Graduate Research Fellowships are available to graduate students who are enrolled students in a master's or doctoral program at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. The fellowships are intended to support applied, educational or policy-relevant research programs designed to improve the lives of the citizens of developing countries. This is a competitive fellowship. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward their degrees in order to be eligible. While preference will be given to students enrolled full-time, part-time students are welcome to apply.

If you weren’t able to take advantage of the Bachelor’s/Master’s Combined Degree Program as an Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ undergrad, you still have the opportunity to leverage your Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ bachelor’s degree toward pursuing your master’s. Build on your bachelor’s degree at the place that knows you best. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ graduates are eligible to receive tuition savings when enrolling in an Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ graduate program. Learn more at this site.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ has established this fund for graduate student employees pursuing doctoral degrees to provide support for professional development opportunities related to the student’s program of study. A doctoral graduate student employee may apply for matching funds of up to $500, to match funds provided by the student’s teaching unit or academic unit. The Hart A. Massey Fellowship is awarded each academic year to one or more incoming Canadian students (enrolled as residential or online students) pursuing graduate studies at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. The fellowship is applied to tuition charges. While preference will be given to students enrolled full-time, part-time students are welcome to apply.

$10,000 tuition scholarship to Maryland military-connected community members (defined as Maryland residents who are: Veterans, current service members, and spouses and children of Veterans or current service members) who are admitted to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ for an eligible graduate degree program. The United Methodist Graduate Scholarship is awarded each academic year to a graduate student enrolled at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ who is a full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to application. The scholarship is applied to tuition charges. Awards are renewable (but not guaranteed) for one year to students who show satisfactory progress towards their graduate degree. Cost of Attendance

The cost of attendance (COA) for graduate programs includes both direct expenses and indirect expenses for the combined fallÌýand spring semesters. Direct expenses are tuition or fees that the university will bill you directly on your bill. The indirect expenses are items that you may need to pay out of pocket such as housing, food, transportation, and books/supplies. Housing and other indirect expenses are based on average costs in the DC area and may be different that your personal experiences based on where you choose to live and other quality of life decisions.
